Cardiff airport

Cardiff Airport is the gateway to Wales, handling over a million passengers a year with over 50 direct routes and more than 900 connecting destinations worldwide through hubs including Amsterdam Schiphol, Dublin and Barcelona. The Airport is situated in the Vale of Glamorgan, just 13 miles from junction 33 of the M4 and around 30 minutes from Cardiff city centre. The Cardiff Airport Express bus service operates between the Airport and the city centre every twenty minutes. 

In March 2013, Cardiff Airport was bought by the Welsh Government. Since then the Airport has undergone a number of changes and improvements to improve and enhance the customer journey.

One of the major recent improvements in February 2016 was the refurbishment of the Duty Free Store operated by the Nuance Group, part of Dufry and a sister company to World Duty Free.  The refurbishment included the allocation of an additional 100sqm of floor-space and an extensive redesign.  It is now far easier for passengers to navigate the 580m2 retail space, with a full walk-through format and clear sight lines across the various product categories.

At the entrance to the store, customers are welcomed with an extensive beauty area incorporating new brands such as OPI nail care and The Body Shop. Wall personalisations showcase big familiar brand names, Chanel, Dior, Lancôme and YSL. In liquor there’s a strong focus on Penderyn, a whisky produced by one of the first Welsh distillers in more than a century.  An integral tasting area enables customers to ‘try before they buy’ and experience the unique flavour of this locally produced whisky.  The focus on local products continues throughout the store with the availability of Clogau Gold jewellery, which has rare Welsh gold in each and every piece. A wide selection of other new jewellery brands have been introduced including Follie Follie, Links of London, and Hugo Boss watches, whilst fashion showcases a number of popular UK brands including Fat Face, Superdry and Animal.
